Jerry is a founding partner of Cohen Villegas Patel, PLLC. His practice focuses on immigration and criminal law matters. Jerry assists clients that find themselves in removal proceedings before the immigration court, clients seeking to petition on behalf of a family member, and clients that find themselves in difficult situations facing criminal charges. He understands first-hand the urgency, importance, and potential impact of these situations and analyzes each of his clients’ circumstances in order to guild them toward achieving the best outcome for them and their family.
A graduate of Villanova University School of Law, Jerry was awarded the Clinical Student of the Year for his work in the Farmworker Legal Aid Clinic. While in law school, he also clerked at Community Legal Aid Society, Inc., in Wilmington, Delaware, and volunteered with Volunteer Income Tax Assistance-VITA.
Outside of work Jerry is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association-AILA, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association-TCDLA, and serves on the Development Board at Texas State University. He also volunteers with the Human Rights Initiative of North Texas-HRI and Catholic Charities.
Jerry is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas, before the Texas Northern District Court, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
